Frequently Asked Questions

How does PaytientCare work?

How does the consultation process work?

Select an applicable service, answer a few health questions and submit to a licensed to a licensed medical provider for review. If applicable, a phone call, text, or video chat may be needed. Once completed, a prescription will be sent to your preferred pharmacy.

How quickly will you review my request for treatment?

In most states we aim to review everything within 24 business hours. Review times depend upon the service you’re completing a visit for, as well as your state’s requirements that govern ‘telemedicine’. Some states require you to have a short video consultation with our team, other states require a phone call, some states don’t require a video or phone call.

Am I guaranteed a prescription medication with my online consultation?

A licensed medical doctors will examine medical information and your photos, if applicable, and will create a treatment plan that is appropriate for you. Depending on the condition and affected areas, prescription medications may be the most effective treatment, but in some cases, may be best treated with over the counter products or therapies.

Why do I need to take a picture of myself in the app/website?

State regulations require that our medical providers see who we're treating, so that’s why we may ask you to take a picture of yourself and your photo ID.

Is the service private/secure?

Yes. We have a legal duty to protect your personal health information and have put in place a number of safeguards. Our Privacy Policy details how we protect your personal information.

How can I let my doctor or nurse practitioner know about the care you provide?

If you have a doctor or nurse practitioner you see on an ongoing basis, it's important to tell your doctor or nurse practitioner about all the medicines you're taking, including any medicines we prescribe.

To make this convenient for you, you can e-mail yourself a summary of the care we've provided via our mobile app. You should give this e-mail to your doctor or nurse practitioner so that your health records are complete.

How does Ascension Now save me time and money?

We save you time and money by making it possible to get great care without having to see an in-person provider. This means you don't need to spend ages on the telephone trying to book an appointment, to travel to and from the doctor's office, or to sit in a waiting room. We also have our own mail order pharmacy so if you value the convenience of medicine delivery, we’ve got you covered.

Our consultation fee for most services is only $30, so it's less than the cost of most insurance copays, even before you take into consideration the time and stress we save you. Some of our services - like our depression and anxiety service - are a flat fee per month that includes consultations and any medicines we prescribe and ship.

How is this different from a regular visit?

We provide the same level of professional care as a traditional doctor’s office, but more conveniently because we’re 100% online and you don’t have to wait days for an appointment.

Just like a traditional doctor’s office, our doctors and nurse practitioners need to ask you questions to work out whether it’s safe and appropriate to give you care. If appropriate, we can write a prescription and send it to our own mail order pharmacy or to a pharmacy near you.

Will I have a live video with a doctor or nurse practitioner?

It depends on the service. Most of our patients won’t require one, but some states have regulations that require a video consultation or a telephone call.

How do I know the service is safe?

All of our providers are board certified U.S. doctors and Nurse Practitioners, licensed in the states we serve. They strictly adhere to evidence-based guidelines like your primary care providers, and will prescribe  medication(s) that are FDA-approved to treat your medical condition that are safe for you based on the information you provide.

Our services are safe, as long as you answer our questions fully and truthfully and you read the important information we provide throughout our app and website, especially the information we send you about your treatment plan.

Is Ohla Right for Me?

Where is Ascension Now available?

Ohla is available in all 50 states and Washington DC.

Who can use our service?

You must be at least 18 years old to use Ascension Now. Please make sure you tell us your legal name and correct date of birth - if your name and DOB don’t match what’s on your photo ID, we may not be able to treat you.

Please make sure to check out the FAQs for the specific service you’d like to use in order to verify any unique requirements or limitations.

Is Ascension Now right for everyone?

No. The online nature of our service means that our doctors and nurse practitioners have to be more cautious than if they were seeing you in person as part of a traditional visit. For this reason, we unfortunately can't help everyone who wants to use our service.

Our medical team follow strict guidelines to make sure we only write you a prescription when it's safe and appropriate to do so. If it’s not in your best interest to use Ascension Now based on what you tell us about your health history or symptoms, we’ll advise you to see a doctor or nurse practitioner in person and we’ll refund your consultation fee.

Ascension Now Pricing and Support

How much is the consultation fee?

Our consultation fee is typically $30, which covers the evaluation and a prescription, but not the cost of your medicine.

We’ll put a hold on your card for the consultation fee when you submit your order, but we’ll only process the payment when one of our doctors or nurse practitioners is confident we can treat you safely. If we can’t help you, we’ll reverse the hold on your card.

Who do I pay for my medicine?

You pay your local pharmacy directly. Just like your traditional doctor's office, patients are responsible for covering the medication cost out of pocket or with insurance. If you have insurance you’d need to speak to your health plan to see if your plan covers the medicines we prescribe.

What if my insurance doesn’t cover my medication?

You may pay out of pocket or request an alternative drug.

Will my insurance cover my consultation fee?

No, insurance won’t cover the cost of your medical consultation.

Is your service refundable?

Yes, prior to us rendering the service. Unfortunately, the consultation fee is nonrefundable once we have rendered the service. We're happy to retreat, reevaluate, or rectify any issues that may arise.

What if my pharmacy does not have my medication?

Let us know immediately via email or the application and we'll be happy to resend your prescription or transfer it to a different pharmacy.

What should I do if I experience a medical emergency?

Due to the remote nature of telemedicine, Ascension Now's services are not designed to handle medical emergencies.

If you’re experiencing a medical emergency, you should seek immediate medical attention from a hospital, an urgent care facility, or your in-person provider. When in doubt call 9-1-1 - it very important that you be seen promptly if you have any concerns.
